Problem:
I am seeing "error catastrophic failure".
Cause:
Catastrophic Failure is caused by missing system files or broken system registry structures. This is a critical sign of an unstable system that is typically caused by improper maintenance of the computer.
Solution:
Option 1:
Please involve your IT person.
- Deploy the application on a second workstation - DO NOT start Acclaim.
- Copy the files under the PAYMATEW folder LESS (exclude) the pmw.lic, pmw.lic.bak, and pmw.ini files
- Paste those folders/files on the machine that does not work. (The action will overwrite the files of Acclaim not the database)
- On the machine that does not work > start Acclaim > continue to login in Acclaim. If you do not see the company listed, in Acclaim from top menu, go to: Setup > preferences > review the Working directory.
You will need administrative permissions (all read/write) in order to install the new software.
When running the program for the first time after installing the new version, run as administrator when launching it.
Option 2:
An alternative is to use the CCleaner tool to delete the application and reinstall it after.
Tool is free on the network. Contact your IT person to support with this tool.
- Navigate to: https://www.ccleaner.com/
- Click free download.
- Download should start automatically.
- Install CCleaner using the downloaded .exe file.
- Open CCleaner and close all of the first time start prompts.
- Navigate to "Tools".
- Locate Acclaim in the search bar and select it.
- Click Delete.
- Re-install Acclaim.
- You are free to delete CCleaner off of the computer after confirming Acclaim is working.
